Their own room in the attic

For the first six years, Guusje and Lea slept in a bedroom together, because we were short of a room. In this bedroom they had the fantastic birds wallpaper from Studio Ditte. Read more about the room on the blog Girls room with birds wallpaper. Although they still had a great time together, we noticed that it would be nice for our different girls to have their own room. Last year our attic was renovated and two extra bedrooms were added. Sil moved to Guusje and Lea's bedroom and the girls finally have their own room in the attic.

Chamomile wallpaper for a dreamy doll girl

Guusje has got the beautiful chamomile wallpaper brown. Which fits our dreamy doll girl exactly. On her bed is a duvet cover in nude with cherries and a gingham fitted sheet from Studio Ditte. Our children are now at an age where they are increasingly making their own choices, and they have their own idea of their own style; very good and fun of course! Yet I did not give them free rein with the children's rooms. I asked them what they like and what colors they would like. And then I chose the wallpaper, because even though it's fun to let them choose for themselves, I also know that it could still be a different choice every day and they can't yet clearly see what to choose. I know what atmosphere they like and what they need for a nice private room, so I tried to decorate the rooms from their eyes.

Styling tips for a nursery

Maybe with my styled pictures it seems as if I have been thinking about the design of the children's rooms for a long time, but nothing could be further from the truth! There was a time when I was very busy decorating our house and spent a lot of time on this. But since the renovation and my new job, and the hustle and bustle of a family, I have little time for it. I don't make mood boards or anything else. I choose a wallpaper, have a picture in my head that matches it and that's how the children's rooms are created. In short; I just do something! And fortunately that often works out well. And quite honestly? I think that Studio Ditte has such a nice collection of wallpaper and bedding that all fits together very nicely without being out of place. So do you find it difficult to think of/style a children's room? Then I would just choose a nice wallpaper and bedding and then you're done. It doesn't have to be that difficult.

Happy with your own place

The rooms have been ready for a while now and although there are still some finishing touches to be made, Guusje is very happy with her beautiful room, and actually just with her own place: playing with her own friends in her room and at her own pace. being able to read without her sister intervening again!
