Kids wallpaper with colorful cars

For us, a playroom is a place where our children can play and romp. I took inspiration from the boys for the wallpaper choice, because we live next to a neighborhood under construction and the boys always love looking at the work trucks and excavators. When I saw this work vehicles wallpaper from Studio Ditte, I was immediately sold!

A place to play

At our home, the boys play throughout the house, because their toys can be found in many places. We have always had a special corner for them in the living room, but one day we thought: why not give them their own playroom? A place for them alone, where they can read, build, do gym, dance, do crafts, you name it. We had already collected some furniture with storage space. When I buy furniture I always ask myself the following: could I also use this piece of furniture in another room? And would I still like this for the next 5 years? The storage unit used to be our dining table bench and now it has become a storage unit for the boys' toys.

Looking at work trucks and excavators

For the playroom I looked carefully at what I wanted for the boys. I always start with the walls and floor, they are the basis of every room. Anyone who already knows me knows that I like neutral and calm colors, but this time I also wanted to add some color. You can create extra atmosphere with just a few strips of wallpaper. I drew inspiration from the boys for the choice, because we live next to a neighborhood under construction and the boys always love looking at the work trucks and excavators. When I saw this work vehicles wallpaper from Studio Ditte I was immediately sold! The fun colorful cars are printed on a neutral background. This has given the room a calm, graphic and colorful look, a win-win!

Playroom with lots of toys

Every playroom is different, but what they all have in common is the large amount of toys. It is important to have enough storage space to store these. I always place a limited number of toys in open cupboards that I change regularly, so it is always a new challenge for the boys. Toys such as Lego, Duplo, puzzles and craft materials are stored in storage boxes in the drawers. It really fits a lot of toys, which makes me very happy.

Always been busy decorating

Ever since I can remember, I have always been busy decorating. When I was little I kept asking my parents to change the colors of the rooms and move furniture. I am originally Italian and studied law there, but over the years I noticed that I had a greater need to be creative. I always enjoy taking on new challenges and that is why I decided to become an Interior Designer. I graduated from The Interior Design Institute in 2021. 'I love to help people to give the right attention to their home and make it a place that feels good and safe'.

Tips for a playroom

Are you also going to make a playroom? Here are a few of my tips for you:

  • A play carpet: who doesn't like a soft carpet? Great for the kids to sit on and play comfortably for hours.
  • Hang up a swing or trapeze: especially when the weather outside is bad, it's nice that they have a place where they can release their energy.
  • Create corners for gym, reading and building.
  • Choose sustainable toys and 'toy rotation' is key.
  • Don't forget the storage space!
